Helping Your Dog Feel Comfortable at a New Daycare or Boarding Environment

A new environment can be exciting for some dogs and overwhelming for others.

At El Ranchito Wanderlust, we don't expect every dog to settle in at the same speed.

Some dogs arrive for their Meet & Sniff, take a look around, and immediately feel at home. Others need a little more time to become comfortable with new people, new dogs, and a new routine.

That's why we don't believe in rushing the transition.

Every new dog begins with a Meet & Sniff before joining us for daycare, boarding, or the Members Club. From there, we may recommend additional shorter visits if we feel a dog would benefit from more time to build familiarity and confidence before a longer day or overnight stay.

There is no prize for settling in the fastest.

Our goal is to create a positive association with El Ranchito from the beginning.

A predictable routine, familiar faces, appropriate social groups, opportunities for rest, and a little patience can make all the difference.

The best transition is the one that happens at the dog's pace.
