How We Think About Socialization

Socialization isn't about making a dog play with every dog they meet.

It's about helping dogs feel comfortable navigating different people, environments, experiences, and social situations.

At El Ranchito Wanderlust, we believe positive socialization starts with compatibility.

We look at personality, confidence, energy, communication, and play style before introducing dogs into a group. We also pay attention to when a dog wants to engage—and when they would rather take a break.

Sometimes healthy socialization looks like running around together.

Sometimes it looks like two dogs calmly sniffing the garden.

Sometimes it looks like lying in the shade beside each other without interacting at all.

Learning to peacefully coexist is socialization, too.

That's why we focus on thoughtful introductions and meaningful interactions rather than simply maximizing the number of dogs in a group.
